During the enlightening experience of working with the third graders, I did not only enjoy my time but I also learned a few things about the war that I was not aware of before.

An interesting fact that I learned, which deeply saddens me, is a brutal and extremely real part of war, for example the long lasting effects the bomb had on civilians. Effects of the bomb consisted of immediate effects, which did not stop after the massive destruction it caused. As for the after-effects, people were plagued with radiation ad cancer long after the bomb was dropped.

The story of the young girl, Sadako, is a short story of one of many tragic stories that took place after the dropping of the atomic, bomb. Although it did not portray all the damage the bomb caused, it did give readers a more personal view of how families and children were horribly affected by wars that did not pertain to them.

Although World War II was ended by the dropping of the atom bomb I have learned that resloving conflict could work by using extreme force but this is the worst way for a conflict to end. Even though many can argue that that the dropping of the bomb was necessary so that people's lives would not continue being ruined by war everyday the dropping of the bomb has its affects untill this day. Even though the dropping of the bomb did end the war there were other ways to persue peace such as negotiations and compremises.

After America's abuse of the atom bomb i dont think that any country can be trusted with nuclear power that can destroy the lives of thousands of people. The only way to resolve this problem is to have ALL countries including the United States give up their nuclear wepons. This will be the best compramise because it eliminates the fear that countries have that another country can destroy them at any time.

Working together with an elemetry school class heleped me realise that all people should strive to achieve the same goal and that is peace. The children were so against the droping of the bomb becasue they were unaware of political issues but instead all they thought of were humanitarian issues which may be the way the whole world should be thinking.

This project could be further extended to making a proposal with the elemetry students finding aleternate solutions rather then droping the bomb. This could help emphasise that there are other ways to resolving a conflict then enailation and destruction.
